The Sangeetha Vidyalaya has 15 faculty Members imparting training in various streams such as Vocal, Veena, Violin, Flute, Mridangam, Ghatam, Kanjira, Morsing (in Karnatik Music) and Vocal, Harmonium, Sitar and Tabla in Hindustani. These include the Director and the Teacher assigned to coach Diploma in Music (KVC) course. Faculty members of Diploma in Music(KVC) Course and others.

Shri P.N.Krishnamoorthy – Director.
Shri P.N.Krishnamoorthy,Director since November 2002

Shri P.N.Krishnamoorthy is a scientist who has held top scientific and administrative positions in the fields of atomic energy and electronics both in India and abroad. But throughout his career his interest in various systems of music (Carnatic, Hindustani and Western classical) has not diminished. He is rare combination of music critic,musician,music teacher and a composer. He has been associated with Carnatic music for over seventy years.

A music critic both Carnatic and Hindustani and a dance critic for "Indian Express" (a leading Mumbai daily), for many decades, he has reviewed nearly a thousand concerts and several hundred dance performances. He has also contributed nearly two hundred articles on music to sunday edition of "The Economic Times" . Over the years, he has contributed articles to various magazines and publications. For number of years he has served as member of the "Sur Singar Samsad Peeth". He has also served as vice chairman of the senate of the Peerh for a number of years. He has served as (a) Judge for selecting musicians for All India Radio awards. (b) Member of jury for the classification pf Carnatic musicians for AIR and (c) member of southern panel of the Music Audition of AIR.

For more then ten years he has been travelling to US regualarly to impart instruction to interested students in Carnatic music.

Pt. Sadanand Naimpalli has been in the faculty for 12 years.

 
  

VOCAL

     

Shri Paresh Jana:
Hindustani Vocal – Trained in three Gharanas, Patiala, a Kirana and Gwalior Gharanas under eminent Gurus such as Pt. Dinanath Mishra, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Prof. Samaresh Chatterjee respectively. Highly original in style and a fine performer, a researcher in swaras. Has brought out a cassette “Vasundhara” presented by Shri Anup Jalota. This faculty was started only towards the close of 2000.

Kum. Sathva Janardhan:
Post Graduate in Commerce. Gurus : Shri R.Tyagarajan and for advanced training now under his father Sangeeta Kalanidhi, Dr.N.Ramani and Advanced training under Smt.T.R.Balamani of Mumbai. Faculty started in July, 2000.

 
  

MRIDANGAM

     

Smt. G. Jayalakshmi:
Teaching here since 1985 Mridangam – Gurukulam under the titan of Laya Tradition Shri Tinniam Venkatarama Iyer. A radio artiste.

 
     

Shri. T.S. Nanadakumar:
Mridangam – Ghatam, Kanjira and Morsing. Guru : Kaithavana Madhavadas. A versatile performing artiste and a painstaking, dedicated teacher. Has trained since he joined the Vidyalaya in 1987 a number of percussionists who are spread all over the world. Special and fascinating trait is to train students In a number of percussion instruments and promoting them in percussion ensembles. Has to his credit 3 cassettes titled “Jewels of Rhythm”.

Has his own organization named “TSN’s Percussive Arts’ Centre” and is on the faculty of many Music institutions.

 
  

VEENA

     

Smt. Mangalam Muthuswamy:
A versatile Vainika of Vizianagaram Venkataramana Das tradition, joind the faculty in 1986. An “A” Grade Artiste and an eminent performing Artiste. Given Lecture demonstrations on Veena.

 
     

Smt. Lakshmi Natarajan:
Vidwan in Veena of Central College of Carnatic Music, Chennai and Teachers’ Training Certificate from Teachers’ Training College of Music Academy. Govt. of India Scholar. Imparting training in Veena and Vocal since 1999.
Gurus : Dr.S.Ramanathan (Vocal and Veena)
Shri Devakottai Narayana Iyengar – Advanced Training as Govt. of India Scholarship student. Radio Artiste.

Smt. Radha Santhanam:
Vidwan from Central College of Carnatic Music Chennai. Sangeetha Ratna Teachers’ Training certificate from Music Academy Teachers’ Training College. Has been with us for 6 years. Gurus : Shri T.M.Thyagarajan, Smt.Kalyani Sharma.

 
     

Smt. Prema Krishnan:
A Diplomate of the University of Mumbai through Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Vidyalaya. Did advanced course in specialized compositins. A radio artiste. Gurus : Father V.Vaidynatha Bhagavathar and Smt.Kalyani Sharma. Has been teaching here for 8 years.

 
     

Shri Puducode Vishwnathan:
Joined in September 2000 for Diploma – Practicals as well as the 7 – year course Vocal Classes of the Vidyalaya and is doing very well. A Maths graduate he is a born musician with resonant voice and exemplary teaching skill. He is a performing artiste and on the rolls of the AIR. He has had his training in Gurukula system from his father Shri. Ganapathy Iyer, a Sangeetha Bhooshanam of yesteryears from Annamalai University college. Has given performance and conducted Bhajana sessions.
