The walls of Shanmukhananda reverberate with melody and talent. At its heart is the Music School striving to keep our music tradition alive, the city's only profesional Institution that trains students for a Diploma in Carnatic Music recognised by Mumbai University.

Those who have already undergone a basic training in Carnatic Music can use this excellent oppurtunity to further thier passion. Even novices with a predilection towards music, can achieve proficiency here, through determination and discipline.

The Music school currently comprises of about 400 students dedicated to learning and researching classical music right from vocal, veena and violin to mridangam in Carnatic style, to the harmonium, sitar and tabla in the Hindustani tradition, even as more and more disciplines are continially being added.

The Vidyalaya has a well equipped library of cassettes and books on music and musicology, which may be of considerable interest to many.
